You Are Here was an interactive exhibit that demonstrated and visualized the research process of Fisher on the Portland Harbor, a report developed by utilizing ethnographic methods to investigate the behaviors of people who subsistence fish on Portland Harbor's superfund site.

FISHERS ON THE PORTLAND HARBOR Report

STRATEGY

Strings attached to inquiries navigated the viewer through a series of photographs taken from interviews and embellished with direct quotations and supporting information discovered during the research process. The final layout for the exhibit was inspired by the Divergent, Emergent, Convergent research model, a tool used to map out process and chart benchmarks.

Ironically, the exhibition was held at Vigor Industry, whose location on the superfund site and relationship to the issue as a stakeholder inspired the exhibit’s title, "You Are Here."

OUTCOME

The expo was part of Pacific Northwest College of Art's graduate thesis show.  It was open to the public and on display for three weeks, during which time it was visited by hundreds of viewers.
